Travestis e transexuais poderão incluir o nome social na carteira de trabalho. Acordo entre Advocacia-Geral da União (AGU), Secretaria de Trabalho e Previdência Social do Ministério da Economia e a Defensoria Pública da União (DPU) viabilizou a medida, que deve entrar em vigor daqui a 180 dias.
De acordo com informações de O Globo, a resolução é resultado de uma ação da Defensoria Pública da União na Justiça Federal de Roraima para que o nome social fosse incluído no documento quando solicitado. Por se tratar de acordo, a possibilidade passa a valer em todo o país.
Desde 2016 é permitido que conste em documentos emitidos por órgãos federais o nome pelo qual a pessoa escolheu ser chamada. Isso porque um decreto presidencial daquele ano prevê que a identidade de gênero de pessoas travestis e transexuais seja reconhecida.
