O presidente do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), ministro Luiz Fux, teria dito a interlocutores que ainda vê meios para reverter a decisão do ministro Edson Fachin, que abriu caminho para o ex-presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) participar das eleições de 2022. Fux teria ainda citado o uso do princípio da moralidade, dentro da Lei da Ficha Limpa, a fim de impedir a candidatura de Lula.
Para ele, uma eventual eleição do petista pode acirrar os ânimos com as Forças Armadas. Logo, evitar a candidatura dele poderia evitar riscos de ruptura democrática em 2022.
